Brooklyn born Richard Heinrich has been a metal sculptor for almost sixty years and his work has been shown in New York, Chicago, Norway, Australia, Japan and China. The Gigue series was an attempt to make dense sculptures that are also light and playful. They incorporate blind welding from the interior of the parts but cutting holes in and welding them together from the inside. The surface is finished by soaking the piece in sulfuric acid and then waxing the subsequent rest. There are six sculptures in the series.
This steel work is 10 inches high by 8 inches wide and 5-1/2 inches deep.
